General description
When it comes to quality, reliability and functionality, SINAMICS DC MASTER DC Converter is absolutely on par with its predecessor SIMOREG DC-MASTER. However, new features have been added and useful functions from the predecessor series have been included as standard.
SINAMICS DC MASTER is the new member of the SINAMICS family, which has many of the SINAMICS tools and components known from the three-phase AC technology, which have now also been made available for DC technology.
The SINAMICS DC MASTER DC Converter range of DC converters sets itself apart as a scalable drive system – for basic as well as demanding drive applications. For the standard closed-loop control, the DC converter is equipped with a standard Control Unit for converters (standard CUD). Expanding the drive system using an additional Control Unit for converters (Advanced CUD) makes sense to address applications requiring a higher computational performance.
The DC converters of the SINAMICS DC MASTER series combines open loop and closed-control and power units in one device and especially sets itself apart as a result of its compact, space-saving design.
The Advanced Operator Panel AOP30 and the BOP20 operator panel are available for commissioning and local control.
The interfaces of the CUD and the number of digital inputs and outputs can be supplemented using additional modules, such as the TM15 and TM31 Terminal Modules.

SINAMICS DCM Control Module
General description
The SINAMICS DC MASTER Control Module offers the optimum solution when retrofitting and modernizing existing DC drives. Contrary to the SINAMICS DC MASTER DC Converter, which comprises open-loop control, closed loop control and power unit, the Control Module is especially used if, as part of the modernization, the power unit of the existing plant or system should be kept. When it comes to quality, reliability and functionality, the SINAMICS DC MASTER Control Module is exactly the same as its predecessor – the SIMOREG CM; however, when it comes to functionality, it offers new features from the range of the SINAMICS DC MASTER.
There are many plants and systems with DC technology, which in the present version, can no longer be coupled to state-of-the-art automation systems. When retrofitting or upgrading these plants or systems, the existing motor, mechanical system and power unit are kept and the control unit is replaced by the Control Module. Therefore you can obtain a state-of-the-art DC drive at an extremely favorable price with the full functional scope of the well-proven, fully digitized units from the SINAMICS DC MASTER series.
The flexible design as well as the additional pre-assembled cable harnesses and mounting parts and components that are available, simplify integration into existing plants and systems. Adaptation to the configuration and to the power data of the existing components is realized through simple parameterization.
The SINAMICS DC MASTER Control Module sets itself apart as a result of a compact space-saving design – although it includes a field power unit. In order to optimally utilize the mounting/installation space in the plant or system the SINAMICS DC MASTER Control Module can be split depthwise.
